Can you tell us about your new album 'NINDYPENDANT', the background and inspirations behind it?

The much anticipated solo album is titled NINDYPENDANT and due out shortly. The tracks on the album are very diverse ranging from traditional Nindy Kaur tracks with a Punjabi flare to them, all the way to complete club bangers. I didn’t want to pigeon hole myself to one type of song. I wanted to express myself creatively and take my fans on the same musical experience. I travel the world touring quite a bit and have experienced such different cultures from Dubai to the USA to Hong Kong and the album reflects that.

How have you ended up in the music industry?

Quite a funny story actually. Like everyone else, I used to sing in the shower and in the car when one day Manj (RDB) needed a female voice on one track they were doing so the three brothers dragged me kicking and screaming into the studio and the rest is history as they say, LOL

What do you think of the music industry in 2012?

It’s a very exciting time for the music industry and we’re seeing so much new talent emerge. With technology these days, a hit in India is already in Toronto within minutes and vice versa. Music is truly a global phenomenon.

Who inspires you when you make your music?

My husband Manj for sure. He pushes me to do better each and every track. To write better, produce better, sing at ranges I didn’t think I could achieve.

Who have you collaborated with so far in your Career?

You’ll be hearing quite a few collaborations on my solo debut. None I can spill at this point G.

Saal by Diljit and Honey Singh.

If you had to sell your music collection tomorrow, what album would you leave in your draw?

Michael Jackson’s Dangerous.

What do you think of TV music talent show competitions?

I love them. There is so much amazing talent in this world and really it comes down to who you know but here we have an opportunity for someone who knows nobody in the music industry to showcase what they can do. I mean look at some of the winners that have been discovered recently, Susan Boyle and Carrie Underwood - they have such amazing voices and we may have never heard them if not for these competitions.

What do you do when you’re not making music?

I spend every given moment I can with my son. He’s the real inspiration for what I do.

Whats your favorite Fashion brand?

I love Louis Vuitton and Chanel. The craftwork and attention to detail that goes into their products is amazing. Definitely one of my guilty pleasures.

I have a simple tattoo on my arm with my husband and sons names, Manj and Anoop.

That’s a very personal question, LOL. Let’s just say too many to count!

How many hats do you own?

I’m not really a big hat person. So very few.

Whats your favorite takeaway?

Thai food.
